The Central Iowa Blues Society is now accepting applications for the 2017 Iowa Blues Challenge, open to all Iowa-based blues bands and solo/duo acts. Preliminary rounds will be held in Des Moines, hosted by the Central Iowa Blues Society in the Band and Solo/Duo categories, in Rock Island, hosted by the Mississippi Valley Blues Society in the Band and Solo/Duo categories, in Grinnell, hosted by the South Skunk Blues Society in the Band category and in Fairfield, hosted by the Southeast Iowa Blues Society in the Solo/Duo category. The winners from each preliminary will advance to the Iowa Blues Challenge Finals on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at the Des Moines Social Club and vie for a prize package including cash, recording time, opportunities for paid gigs and entry into the 2018 International Blues Challenge in Memphis, TN, along with a travel stipend. The application deadline is midnight, Sunday, June 11th, No exceptions.
Entries involving individuals who have participated in the International Blues Challenge previously be sure to consult the Blues Foundation’s Affiliate Challenge Booklet as there are new restrictions with respect to cumulative participations in the IBC.
