The annual Walk Now For Autism will be Saturday, June 19th, 2010 at Valley High Stadium, West Des Moines, IA. The Walk will begin at 10:00AM with registration starting at 8:00 AM. CIBS will again be a sponsor of this worthwhile event along with Scotty and the Wingtips providing the music. We invite you to join the team formed called Kellen and Will’s Fighters (in honor of my son, Kellen, and my friend Robin’s son, Will). You can also form a team of your own, walk independently or click the link below to join a team and/or make a donation. Add your name to the list and help make this the year of the breakthrough.

Autism is a complex neurobiological disorder that typically lasts throughout a person’s lifetime. Today, 1 in 150 individuals is diagnosed with autism, making it more common than pediatric cancer, diabetes, and AIDS combined. It occurs in all racial, ethnic, and social groups and is four times more likely to strike boys than girls. Autism impairs a person’s ability to communicate and relate to others. It is also associated with rigid routines and repetitive behaviors, such as obsessively arranging objects or following very specific routines. Symptoms can range from very mild to quite severe and can affect the individuals and their families for a lifetime. Please join us as we walk to find a cure for Autism.
