5/13/13 UPDATE…the Mississippi Valley Blues Challenge semi-finals are over.  The three advancing bands are: Chris Avey Band, Serious Business, and the Rock Island Rollers. This is the order the three bands will play for the Finals on Friday, July 5, 2013 at the Bandshell stage at 3 PM at the Mississippi Valley Blues Fest.  The Blues Fest will be July 4, 5, 6 2013 at LeClaire Park.

Mississippi Valley Blues Challenge 2013

The first Mississippi Valley Blues Challenge will be held July 5 at the Mississippi Valley Blues Festival. Preliminary rounds on April 28 and May 5 with double elimination round on May 12.

Bands within a 175 miles radius of the Quad Cities will be eligible to compete, but before a band can progress to the final round at the festival, they must first surmount a preliminary round on April 28 at The Muddy Waters, Bettendorf, IA, to decide on the top three bands for the final competition at the festival.

The winner earns the right to compete in the International Blues Challenge held in Memphis. The prize package also includes cash, travel expenses, and the opportunity to perform July 6 at the Mississippi Valley Blues Festival in Davenport, Iowa.
