Congratulations to The Pain Killers on their advancement to the Final round of the 2012 Iowa Blues Challenge to be held Saturday, May 26, at the Downtown Des Moines Marriott. Three Iowa bands will compete.
The second semi-final round will be at Muddy Waters in Bettendorf on April 22 with The Mississippi Misfits, Slack Man and the Smokin’ Red Hots, Judge #3, Serious Business and Phineas J’s. Two bands from the Bettendorf round will advance to the Finals along with The Pain Killers May 26.
For the 19th year, the Central Iowa Blues Society, in cooperation with the Mississippi Valley Blues Society, Lizard Creek Blues Society, South Skunk Blues Society and Southeast Iowa Blues Society presents the Iowa Blues Challenge, an all-Iowa Blues Band contest. This contest is open to any Iowa Blues Band that has not been nominated for the Blues Music Awards (Handy’s).
For a contest of this kind, The Iowa Blues Challenge features one of the finest prize packages in the country. Prizes include cash, travel expenses and recording time, as well as spots in the 2012 Mississippi Valley Blues Festival in Davenport and the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, Tenn. in February, 2013.
