APR/MAY 2020

Hello CIBSters —  We wanted to fill you in on what we’ve been up to during the COVID-19 crisis. In mid-March, CIBS cancelled all meetings, shows and/or programs scheduled through April. These included the Iowa Blues Hall of Fame class of 2020 Induction Ceremony on Sunday April 5th which will be rescheduled later in the year, the General Membership Meeting on April 13th, and the Blues in the Schools program that was scheduled April 20-24.

Due to CDC recommendations we are now cancelling our May and June events. This includes the Membership Meetings and Spring Fest.

The arts, entertainment, and service industries are among the hardest hit by the Covid-19 pandemic and we are proud to announce that the CIBS board of directors voted unanimously to pay each artist for CIBS shows and/or programs being cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It’s the right thing to do and it directly supports the first principle in our bylaws–to preserve, cultivate and support the blues in Central Iowa on all levels and in multiple venues.

We are a BLUES family and together we will get through these unprecedented times. Until then…Be well!

Sincerely,

Scott Allen
President, Central Iowa Blues Society
