2023 Membership Appreciation Party
Saturday, November 11!

Reverend Raven & the Chain Smokin’ Altar Boys featuring Westside Andy to perform at CIBS 2023 Membership Appreciation Party on Saturday, November 11 at Lefty’s Live Music! Doors at 6PM / Show at 7PM – Must be a member of the Central Iowa Blues Society to attend this FREE appreciation party and concert. You may join or renew online at cibs.org/about/membership. Memberships will also be available at the door.

Bringing crowds to their feet at the hardest to please and sophisticated night clubs in the Midwest, Reverend Raven and the Chain Smoking Altar Boys play traditional blues, straight up with a big dose of passion. With smoking grooves, served up with hot harmonica and smooth stinging guitar they play original songs peppered with nods to Slim Harpo, Little Walter, Jimmy Rogers, Billy Boy Arnold, Junior Wells and the three Kings.

2023 Iowa Blues Challenge

Congratulations to Matt Woods (solo) and the Rush Cleveland Trio (band) — they will be representing Iowa at the 2024 International Blues Challenge in Memphis!!! Make plans to cheer them on January 16-20 on Beale Street!

2024 Iowa Blues Hall of Fame

The Iowa Blues Hall of Fame 2024 Class was announced at the Halfway show on October 15th. Tony Brown, Jeff Wagner, Don “T-Bone” Erickson, Lynette Webster, Tom Gary, and Tina Haase Findlay! The induction ceremony will be April 7th, 2024 at The River Center, 340 SW 3rd St in Des Moines. SAVE-THE-DATE! Many VIP tickets were sold at the Halfway show and more will be available at the Membership Appreciation Party this Saturday at Lefty’s. GA tickets will go on sale soon.

The Central Iowa Blues Society was incorporated as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization in 1992 by 200 blues lovers. Our mission is to keep the blues alive through celebration, preservation, and education. We endeavor to increase awareness of and appreciation for blues music by providing a network of association for blues enthusiasts. We recognize and honor our Iowa blues heritage through the Iowa Blues Hall of Fame program. We celebrate blues performance by promoting numerous concerts throughout the year including the Winter Blues Fest and the Iowa Blues Challenge. We strive to educate and ensure the future of the blues through Blues in the Schools.

Central Iowa Blues Society received The Blues Foundation’s Keeping the Blues Alive Award in 2016. Each year, The Blues Foundation presents the Keeping the Blues Alive (KBA) Awards to individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to the Blues around the world.
