Jeff Wagner – 2024 INDUCTEE
An accomplished chiropractor, Jeff “Doc” Wagner is best known as an owner and manager of the legendary Blues on Grand. Jeff’s Journey with the blues began well before that. It was his love of blues music and fascination with those that played it that drew him in.
A founding member of the Central Iowa Blues Society (CIBS) in 1992. Jeff served CIBS as an officer or committee chair for over two decades. He also served a term on the board of the International Blues Foundation.
In 1999 Jeff and two partners opened Blues on Grand. The small, smokey, intimate little juke joint that would go on to become one of the country’s most well respected and loved Blues Clubs. In 2002 Blues on Grand won the Keeping the Blues Alive club of the year award.
For Jeff, the real reward lay in getting to host the local, regional, and national acts 5 nights a week. He cherished the friendships he had with these magical musicians and all the stories that were shared after hours. He had one simple rule “Don’t play Mustang Sally!”
