CIBS members that attend the membership meeting are eligible to win door prizes at the end of the meeting… prizes such as tickets to a blues show, CDs, DVDs, Books, etc. Enjoy some live music after the meeting!

CIBS LOGO UPDATE!

The board is proposing that we update our CIBS Guy image and we will be voting on it at the next membership meeting — Monday, January 9. The image on the left is our current logo and the one on the right is the updated version. Please plan on attending the meeting if you wish to have your voted counted!

New CIBS Iowa Blues Hall of Fame Home?

Another important item we will discuss at the January membership meeting is a new home for the Iowa Blues Hall of Fame exhibit. We have applied and looked at a space in the Mainframe Studios in downtown Des Moines. We would be neighbors with the KFMG Studio, Des Moines Music Coalition, Civic Music Association, and many visual and fine artists. Come share your input with us!

2023 Winter Blues Fest

There are a limited number of volunteer opportunities available for the 2023 Winter Blues Fest! Each volunteer shift is two hours for tasks such as wristband check, ticketing, info desk, load in/out. VOLUNTEER = FREE ADMISSION for the night of your shift!

The Central Iowa Blues Society was incorporated as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization in 1992 by 200 blues lovers. Our mission is to keep the blues alive through celebration, preservation, and education. We endeavor to increase awareness of and appreciation for blues music by providing a network of association for blues enthusiasts. We recognize and honor our Iowa blues heritage through the Iowa Blues Hall of Fame program. We celebrate blues performance by promoting numerous concerts throughout the year including the Winter Blues Fest and the Iowa Blues Challenge. We strive to educate and ensure the future of the blues through Blues in the Schools.

Central Iowa Blues Society received The Blues Foundation’s Keeping the Blues Alive Award in 2016. Each year, The Blues Foundation presents the Keeping the Blues Alive (KBA) Awards to individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to the Blues around the world.
